Atlas of Common Subluxations of the Human Spine and Pelvis

Atlas of Common Subluxations of the Human Spine and Pelvis

by William J. Ruch

A very popular atlas illustrating and discussing the subluxation of the spine and related health implications. For chiropractic, medical, and legal communities. Radiologic images and dissections.

Dr. Ruch’s extensively illustrated book helps demonstrate the relationship between subluxations (partial dislocations) of the spine and acute or chronic changes in nerve tissue, muscle and connective tissue, and the subject’s quality of life. It shows how, using modern imaging (Xray, MRI), clinicians could evaluate, treat, and predict outcomes for persons with traumatic or chronic spinal misalignments.

Here are a few excerpts from various reviews:

“Because of its detailed nature, this atlas would be of most interest to orthopaedic physical therapists specializing in spinal dysfunction. It would also make a valuable addition to the anatomy reference collection of physical therapy schools, departments, and office practices.” — The Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy

“…documents CT Scan, MRI, x-ray, and dissection studies of spinal pathologies, which should be important to all healthcare professionals.” — American Journal of Clinical Chiropractic

…an excellent resource for chiropractors who want to improve the quality of care in their practice.” — Today’s Chiropractic

Amazon reviewers:

“This book is a wonderful contribution to chiropractic. The photographs are superb. Anyone who needs evidence of the devastating effects of vertebral subluxations should read this book.”

“An excellent illustration of cervical postural distortions and the related manifestations which compromise the spinal cord and brain stem. Clearly illustrates the muscles which need to be released to improve spinal health.”

“It is a book that all doctors should have in their library. It shows with great images how the subluxation complex act on the spinal cord. Patients appreciate the visual clear informations from the book.”

Confessions of an Rx Drug Pusher

Confessions of an Rx Drug Pusher

by Gwen Olsen

Books of interest to chiropractors: Confessions of an Rx Drug PusherAuthor Gwen Olsen spent 15 years as a sales representative in the pharmaceutical industry, working for such corporations as Johnson & Johnson, Bristol-Myers Squibb and Abbott Laboratories. During that period, she learned firsthand how an unprecedented number of lethal drugs are unleashed on the United States market.

When her niece, Megan, committed suicide by setting herself on fire, Olsen knew that the adverse effects of the prescription drugs she had been taking were part of the reason. She began a campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of modern pharmaceuticals and the unethical practices of the drug manufacturers.

Now a mental health activist, Olsen has testified before the Food and Drug Administration’s Psycho-Pharmacology Committee, as well as many legislative committees, and has led rallies and marches in protest against psychiatric abuse.

With strong ties to the chiropractic profession, Olsen has received praise from DCs such as Dr. Ben Lerner, author of “Body by God,” who stated: “In a well researched, impeccably documented, finely written manner, Gwen Olsen has given us account of the gripping details of real people hurt by the failures of modern health care.”

The Antioxidant Counter

Chiropractic Book: Antioxidant CounterThe Antioxidant Counter

by Mariza Snyder, DC, and Lauren Clum, DC

As more chiropractors enter the field of nutrition-based wellness, this slender but information-packed volume may be a good addition to the DC library.

Based on the ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) scale, this handy guide presents easy-to-understand antioxidant scores for hundreds of foods. It’s specially designed to show which nutrition-loaded foods offer the greatest healing power and how to include more of them in your diet.

It features:

  • Clear, Easy-to-Read Charts
  • Delicious, Antioxidant-Rich Recipes
  • Explanation of ORAC Scores
  • Charts comparing antioxidant content of various foods

The book dispels many of the antioxidant myths in circulation and provides interesting and important information on antioxidants in general, as well as a complete diet plan.

Dr. Clum noted that: “As a chiropractor dedicated to helping people get well, it took me a while to realize that I could connect with even more people by writing! ‘The Antioxidant Counter’ is my first published piece, and really brings together much of the nutritional information that I discuss with patients every day. I am absolutely passionate about helping people to realize the power and healing potential of their own bodies, and am fortunate to help people get well from a variety of health issues and conditions, simply by freeing up that amazing healing power within. There’s a lot of science and physiology that goes into it, but it’s really that simple: it’s about reconnecting the brain and body so that healing can occur.”

Drs. Snyder and Clum run The Specific Chiropractic Center in Oakland, California. They both graduated from Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward, California and began practicing together in 2009.
